John Hugh Pape, 49, of New Ulm, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, in Ft. Pierre, S.D.
He was born March 29, 1961, in Ganado to parents Kenneth Ray and Patricia Ann (Frnka) Pape. He grew up in New
Ulm and attended the Columbus schools graduating from Columbus High School.
John worked as a horse trainer and was licensed at all major quarter horse race tracks in the U.S. also
assistant at race tracks in Texas. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and horses. Very devoted father to his son Dillon.
He is survived by his son Dillon Ray Hill of South Dakota; mother Pat Kneupper and her husband, Stanley, of
New Ulm; uncle and aunt John and Lynette Frnka of New Ulm; 3 cousins Renee Weishun, Jonathan Frnka and Dyanna Machinsky, all of New Ulm; and many other dear
friends and other relatives.
John was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Pape, and his grandparents, Jim and Bernice Frnka, and
Della Pape Lynn.
