Roland William Emshoff, age 83, departed this life on Friday, September 21, 2012, in New Braunfels . He was born on July 20, 1929, in Welcome, Texas , to Henry and Emmie (Becker) Emshoff. Roland attended Concordia School in Welcome, graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown , and obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1952. He served in the US Army as a lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps.
After his Army duty, Roland returned to Texas to work as an engineer for M W Kellogg in Dallas . He met Dorothy Ann (Morgan) and they were married in 1958. They relocated to Houston in the 1970s where they raised three children.
Roland retired from Brown & Root (now KBR) in 1995 and later moved to New Braunfels . He had an active retirement and volunteered for the American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church . He was a Mason, a registered professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
He is survived by his son Bill and wife Donna and granddaughter Madeline of Aledo, daughter Anne Marie DVM of San Antonio , son Michael and wife Ginger of Pearland, sister Ruth Dittmar and husband Ray of Houston, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy who passed away in June 2011.
A memorial service took place on Saturday, Sept. 29th at the funeral home followed by burial at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, or Lutheran World Relief.
