She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, chef, restaurant owner, teacher and world traveler. She is preceded by her husband, Dr. A. Roy Price, and survived by her daughters Merrill Davis, Allison Marshall and Lindy Kottcamp, their husbands and five grandchildren.

Born in Houston in 1939 to Martelle and David Donoho, Dee graduated from Lamar High School, attended the University of Alabama, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and did graduate work at West Texas State University. She taught English in Austin, Amarillo and Houston before marrying Dr. Sam Davis, Jr., a Rice professor. She raised her family in Houston and in their second home in Burton, TX. She also spent one year with her family in Edinburgh, Scotland when the children were young, exploring the United Kingdom and Europe. She was active in many social and political organizations, including serving as President of the Rice Women’s Club, the Briargrove Garden Club and the West Republican Women’s Club.

In 1984, she married Dr. A. Roy Price, an executive with Merichem, and shared 25 years of marriage traveling around the world four times and making many trips to Europe and Asia. They lived in the Westchester neighborhood in West Houston and opened in Bellville two restaurants called The Holland House, where she acted as chef and caterer for a total of six years. Ultimately, she and her husband retired with their Great Dane, “Prince,” to a historic house they refurbished in Bellville called “Starwood.”

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 N. Holland, Bellville, TX 77418.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to hospice’s charitable foundation, VITAS Community Connection, which can be found at
