Sharron Evans, born on March 10, 1943, passed away early Sunday morning, March 9, 2014, after her fight with cancer. She was 70 years old. Sharron had a wonderful family supporting her through this difficult time. Her surviving family include her brother, Dale Evans, who lives in Junction, TX, her daughter, Teresa Lynn McGrath, lives in Bellville, and son, James Allen Penny, lives in Brenham State School. Grandsons Micheal Lee Cline and his wife, Kelly Cline and Richard Allen McGrath III reside in Bellville with their children, Kevin Lee Ray Cline, age 12, and Bryan Allen McGrath, age 7. Granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Sutherland, resides in Industry with her husband, Justin, and sons, Jacob Wayne Wallace, age 9, and Weston Lee Sutherland, age 18 months. Lloyd and Margaret Hill, Sharron’s aunt and uncle, live in Hempstead, and cousin, Janis Hill, lives next door. Another cousin, Sandra Reeves, lives in Hempstead. Aunts, Joann Hill and Ailine Bachlor , reside in the Texarkana area.
As a young girl, Sharron was a competitive barrel racer. After graduating high school in West Texas, Sharron worked with her step-father driving over-the-road trucks, later managed some stores, and a car wash while playing in a country band at night and on weekends. She played base guitar and danced around the stage entertaining the customers. Sharron loved to dance and taught her daughter and grandchildren to Two Step. In her spare time, Sharron love to bowl and bowled on a league, winning a championship with her son Micheal. Sharron managed the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park for many years before retiring to enjoy her great-grand children.
Services will be Friday at 2:00p.m. at the All Around Cowboy Church in Sealy where she was a member for many years. The church is on U.S. 36, north of town about 4 miles on the westside of the highway.
