Frank Anthony Pierantozzi, 80, of Bellville, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Methodist West Houston Hospital.
Frank was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Follansbee, W. VA., to parents Francisco and Anna Marie (Abbradanza) Pierantozzi.
He grew up and attended the Follansbee schools until his enlistment in the United States Air Force at 17. During his enlistment he earned his GED. He loved to travel and the Air Force provided him with the opportunity to see most of Europe including Italy where he was able to visit his paternal grandparents.
After his honorable discharge, Frank worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and as a railroad conductor for Intramill Railroad. After his retirement from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, he lived in New Mexico, Ohio and Texas. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
He and his wife, Waneta, had most recently made their home in Bellville, where Frank volunteered extensively (over 1,285 hours) at the Bellville hospital making popcorn two days a week. Frank was also an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Bellville Knights of Columbus Council #9268, and a 4th degree with Sealy Knights of Columbus #3313.
He leaves behind his wife Waneta Alvis Pierantozzi of Bellville; the mother of his children Pauline Pierantozzi of Follansbee, W. Va.; daughter Elaine Licata and her husband, Michael, of Weirton, W. Va.; sons Gary Pierantozzi of Follansbee, W. Va., Paul Pierantozzi and his wife, Diane, of Bellville, Frank Pierantozzi and his wife, Cathy, of The Woodlands; stepson John Alvis and his wife, Mary, of Follansbee, W. Va.; six grandchildren; two sisters Jeanette Hale and Maryann Lee, both of Ohio; and many other dear friends and relatives.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 5-7 p.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2014, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Father Timothy Bucek, Celebrant.
Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. The Bellville Knights of Columbus Council #9268 served as pallbearers. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 808, Bellville, TX 77418, or to the charity of their choice.
