Arthur J. Giese, 86, of Brenham, died October 21, 2009 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center. He was born in Washington County on December 12, 1922 to Gustav and Annie (Vollert)
Giese, and was educated in area schools. Survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law Gus and Shirley Giese of Brenham, and Leon and Jean Giese of Lake Jackson;
sisters Anita Stroech of Bryan, and Lillian Mantey of Yoakum, a brother-in-law, Delbert Stelter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Giese was preceded in death
by his mother and father, Gustav A. and Annie Vollert Giese, one sister, Mildred Stelter, brothers-in-law William Stroech and Wilburn Mantey, Arthur was a lifelong member
of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, and worked for Texas Bolt Co. as a machinist for many years. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force from 1941 to 1945, and
was also engaged in Air Force Ground Support on the island of Iwo Jima during World War II. Funeral services for Arthur J. Giese will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at
10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Robert Sorensen officiating. A private family burial will be held in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg
Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Phillipswburg or to Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral
