Funeral services for Mr. William (Bill) Waak, 92, of Bellville were held
Tuesday, Aug. 23rd at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of the Pete E. Etlinger
Funeral Home in Bellville with Rev. William Rotter officiating. Burial
was in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Conway Waak Jr., Kyle Waak,
Darrell Schrader, Weldon Emshoff, Johnny Hardin, Ronald Koehn, Travis
Koehn, Curtis Koehn and Dalton Sherrill. Mr. Waak died Sunday morning,
Aug. 21, 1988 in Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Bellville. He was born
Nov. 10, 1895 in Coshatte to parents William and Alvina Hagen Waak. He
was raised and attended school in Coshatte. Mr. Waak served his country
during World War I in the U. S. Army and returned home to marry the
former Miss Emma Grawunder on Nov. 28, 1923 in Houston. Mr. Waak helped
organize the Austin County Farm Bureau, and was a member of the Coshatte
Agricultural Society and past member of the Bellville American Legion.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville and was a
farmer and cattle rancher. Survivors include: daughters, Mrs.
Marceline Jones of Bellville and Mrs. Ruby Koehn of Bellville; son and
daughter-in-law Conway and Helen Waak of Bellville; nine grandchildren
and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,
three sisteres (sic), Mrs. Adele Timme, Mrs. Lula Brune and Mrs. Josie
Krueger, and two brothers, Henry and Edward Waak. Memorial
contributions can be mde to the St. John's Retreat Center.
