LIBRARY MANAGER TO SPEAK AT OCTOBER MEETING
The Bay Area Genealogical Society is fortunate to have Marje Harris, Manager of Clayton Library, the genealogical research unit of the Houston Public Library, as guest speaker on October 26th. Her talk will be Stepping Back in Time - Problem Solving.
Not only is Marje Harris knowledgeable, having obtained an MLS (Master
of Library Science) from Texas Woman’s University and a BA in Library
Science/Education from the University of North Texas, she is an entertaining
speaker. Her credentials are varied,
from certified Genealogical Records Searcher, to teacher at
Ms. Harris continues her
personal education by taking classes from the National Genealogical Society,
the Institute for Genealogical Research, the Houston Genealogical Institute,
the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and she has completed the genealogical
Home Study Program through the National Genealogical Society.
Her interest includes many
patriotic and hereditary societies. She is a member of Colonial Dames of
America, Daughters of the
Ms. Harris has worked for the
Houston Public Library for twenty-seven years and at Clayton Library for
twenty-two years. She is qualified to
speak on any genealogy subject and on the Clayton Library. She has spoken on Colonial Records of
Virginia; Introduction to Research in England; Afro-American Research;
Immigration, Naturalization and Migration; Civil War Research; Probate Records;
Research in Texas During the Time of Spain and Mexico; Migration Trails;
Military Records; Problem Solving Techniques and many more topics.
