Who was Mahala P. SIMMONS, nee BLAKEY, born in Kentucky, 9 May 1805, died 24 May 1878, buried in Bastrop Cemetery? Was she wife of William SIMMONS on Bastrop Tax Roll in 1838 and who fought at Battle of San Jacinto? Are there any other SIMMONS buried near her?

Seeking information concerning Edward A. SAXON who died in an accident in a gin in McDade, Bastrop county, TX. Time frame unknown. Edward was born in Butler County, Ala. 27 October 1865 to Sanford S. SAXON and Maranza Ann ADAMS. Sanford and Maranza died somewhere around Bastrop county in 1873 leaving behind 7 young children. We think Edward died as a young man - probably in late teens or early 20's. Any information on any of these names - connecting - or not greatly appreciated. I am seeking inforomation on the MAYO family of Jeddo. Permelia Mayo, wife of Stephen Mayo is said to be burried in the Jeddo Cem., but when I visited the cem. this summer, I did not find her grave site. The Mayos lived around Jeddo in the 1860's and 1870's. Does anyone have any information concerning this family? Bill Horn Garland, TX.

This is the second time I have asked for help on FLOYDS AND NEWSOMS in Bastrop County. They are my grandparents; Henry Clay Newsom married Martha Susan Floyd, daughter of G. W. Floyd. I don't know who G. W. Floyd's wife was. There are many Floyds buried in Oakhill Cemetery, one is Mollie Newsom, daughter of Henry Clay and Martha Susan Newsom, who married A. J. Evans. Ilene Heise (of Columbia, SC) married Walter Teague and moved to Bastrop Co., TX between 1870 and 1890. Walter Teague was an agent for the Ringling Brothers. They were members of the Episcopal Church in Bastrop. A family member has a walking cane with A. A. Erhard, Bastrop, Tex engraved on it. Margaret Heise married an Erhard(t) from Walterboro, SC. Maggie Heise Erhardt is buried in Columbia, SC. Other families who moved with the Teagues, Erhardts and Heises to Texas are Root, Barry, and Propst. Susan Propst spropst@netside.com

I believe he married abt 1848 to Hester Ann ??? b: Abt. 1829 in Alabama. d: Abt. 1862. They had the following children: 1. Elizabeth E. CLARK b: Abt. 1849 2. Thomas "Tom" J. John married Lucinda?? b: July 30, 1878 d: June 18, 1917 in ? Houston Co. Texas Thomas J. is believed to have at least one brother named Lommie G. CLARK and possibly another brother name James(Jim). EVES- John Sedrix and Mary Ethel ROBERTSON lived in Cedar Creek,Texas in 1890. Had son Sedrix b.-December 27,1890. Looking for any info on John and Mary. I am researching KELLY/KELLEY surnames of Bastrop County. I have a Civil War Pension of a Daniel C. KELLY who at the time was from Bastrop County. It is witnessed by J.A. KELLY since Daniel couldn't write. There is also a reference for the Pension Application of a W.L. KELLY witnessing the application.

I am at a loss or dead end. I can find almost no information on my main line of Kelly's. I know they moved to TX in 1868 and settled in the Hill Country. In biographies I have of my g-g-grandfather there lists a Merle KELLY. M.E. KELLY was the wife of Daniel. My main line is from Lee County.
