Mrs. Nannie Irving Beaty, a resident of West Texas for 60 years died in Ysleta Tuesday following an extended illness and her body was brought here burial.
Mrs. Beaty was a member of a pioneer Texas ranching family, born on the Irving ranch near Johnson City. She was educated at St Mary's academy, Austin and Science hall, near Kyle. Following the death of her father, Jos. Addison Irving in 1892, she came to Alpine to make her home with her brother Joe B. Irving, well-known ranchman who was at that time operating the Leoncita ranch north of Alpine. The Irvings later lived in Odessa where Mr. Irving had ranching interests.
She was married to Robert E. Beaty in El Paso Dec. 20, 1910, and the couple lived in Alpine for a number of years, for some time operating what is now the Towsend ranch in the Hovey area and later the Kendrick ranch in the Big Bend. Later Mr. Beaty engaged in the ranching business in the Sierra Blanca area and since 1945 has been an inspector for the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Assn., stationed at El Paso and Ysleta.
Funeral services were announced for 4 p.m. yesterday( after the Avalanche went to press) at the Livingston Funeral home chapel with Rev. Gordon Collier pastor of the First Prestyterian church, officiating.
Mrs. Beaty was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church. Interment was in Elm Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were G. B. Crawford, FElix McGaughy, Bernal Slight, Raymond Garnett, D. M. Bennett, Joe Hord.
Surviving are the husband, a foster son-Wm Monteith of Amarillo, and several nephews and nieces, including Mrs. E. E. Townsent of Alpine.
