Precinct 1 in Brewster County which includes the area of Brewster County before Buchel and Foley Counties were absorbed in 1897 from J.D. county to about 20 miles south of Alpine. Precinct 2 is also included. It includes the remainder of old Brewster County, but the main population concentration was in the recently developing mercury mines in the Telingua area. "Marathon" includes the old Buchel County. The populations were enumerated by the Marathon and Hayward (to the east of Marathon) areas. Includes the old Foley County south of Precinct 3. The population was concentrated opposite of the Mexican mines in the Boquillas area.
