San Antonio – Edward Joseph Balusek, 85, of Leon Valley died Friday, Sept. 16, 1988.

One of three children, he was born Feb. 7, 1903 at Shiner in the Vlastinec community, son of Charlie and Julia (Malina) Balusek, natives respectively of Nelsonville and Welcome in Austin County. He grew to manhood on the family farm at the Michna School where he received his formal education. He was a retired welder. His wife is the former Christine Proctor.

He was a member of Patterson Lodge No. 1177 A.F. and A.M., Alzafar Shrine, and Scottish Rite Bodies. Mr. Balusek was past president of Senior Men's Club, Director Emeritus of Alzafar Shrine, life member of Elks Lodge 216, Order of Sons of Hermann, Anglers Club, Bass Club, Alamo Bass Club and SPJST Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Christine Balusek of Leon Valley; son Wendell McMahon of Medina Lake; grandson, Steve McMahon of Canyon Lake; two sisters, Mrs. J.D. (Ella) Woodbury of San Antonio, and Mrs. Henry (Louise) Leck of Moulton.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Porter Loring Chapel with the Rev. Carl A. Fredrickson officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens under the auspices of Patterson Lodge No. 1177 A.F. and A.M. Arrangements were with Porter Loring.

He was preceded in death by his father, June 6, 1955; and his mother, Dec. 22, 1972.
