Rosemary Banik, age 65, of West, passed away early Monday afternoon, December 9, 2002 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.

A rosary was recited 7:30 pm Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, by the Rev. Isidore Rozycki. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Banik was born on September 18, 1937 in west, the daughter of William A. and Marguerite (Girard) Rauschuber. The attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from West High School in 1955. She marred Albert Lee Banik on November 5, 1955 in Tours. She worked as a receptionist for 14 years at the Hillcrest Clinic-McArthur in Waco until her retirement in June of 2002. She also worked as cafeteria manager at the West Independent School District for 16 years and St. Mary’s School Cafeteria. Rosemary was a homemaker and lived cooking, sewing and making wedding cakes. She was a chairman of the Westfest Kolache Baking contest held each year. She was a very active member of SPJST for whom she served as a youth leader; a member of KJZT Society #11; Catholic Daughters of America Court #829; and a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.

She is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Ann Banik, who passed away March 14, 1988.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Albert Banik of West; two sons, Darrin Banik and wife Torie of West and Eddie Banik and wife Marilyn of China Spring; three daughters, Cyndy Dunlap and husband Joe of Mt. Calm, Denise McCauley and husband Mike of Elm Mott, and Charlotte Carlisle of Hewitt; two brothers, Edward Rauschuber and wife Geraldine of Hickory Creek and Fred Rauschuber and wife Sue of Granbury; sisters-in-law Erna Archerd and husband Wayne. Olga Richter and husband Helmut; brother-in-law, Ernest Banik and wife Dorothy, seven beloved grandchildren, Cody, Casie, Whitney, Derek, Taylor, Bailey Rose and Grace; and several nieces, and nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Parish Center of West Ambulance Association.

Aderhold Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements.
