Baros, one of a family of 13 children, was born Oct 28 1899 at Dreyer near Shiner, son of Frank and Christina Martinak Baros, natives respectively of Czechoslovakia and Frelsburg, Texas. In 1919 the family moved to Shiner where his father operated the Commercial Hotel. His primary education was acquired at Prairie View School near Dreyer. He entered the U. S. As a young man he took up aviation and will be remembered as a frequent weekend visitor in Shiner in the early 1930's when he flew in in his 2-wing plane and treated some of the Shiner citizens to their first plane rides. The green pasture adjacent to the cemetery was then used for a landing strip.
