He married Kristen Louise Keating on April 3, 1998.

He was preceded in death by his mother on January 8, 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Kristen Bartek of Durango; father Joe L. Bartek of Durango; brother Joe Bartek Jr. of Harker Heights; sisters, Cynthis Ann Bartek of Garland and Tammy Lynn Rose of Temple; maternal grandmother Vlasta Hejl of Temple; nieces, a nephew, several aunts & uncles.
