Charlie J. Barta, 76, of San Angelo died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, in a local hospital.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Greenwell officiating. Entombment will follow in Calvary Mausoleum with military honors.

Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Gonzales County. He was a building contractor and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Barta of San Angelo; a son, Mark Barta of San Angelo; a daughter, Carolyn Brower of Lake Jackson; a sister, Maria Mikulencak of Moulton; and four grandchildren.
