Funeral services for George T Barta, 70, of Flatonia were held Dec 14 at Smith Funeral Home with Rev Dean Evans officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

He died Dec 10 in San Antonio. He was born Dec 8, 1929 in Flatonia, the son of Theodore T and Ida Katherine (Hollub) Barta. He married Bessie "Polly" Votaw on Sept 10, 1950.

He was a rancher, member of the Baptist Church and the independent Cattlemen's Assn.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife; son, Glenn R & Melissa Barta of La Grange; daughter, Kelly Denise Mode of Flatonia; grandchildren, Megan, Jeremy and Jacob Barta of La Grange, DeAndrea Mode of La Grange and Nakayla and Marlie Mode of Flatonia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vernon and Dorothy Votaw of Mudloon.
