Flatonia - Bessie Lorene Votaw Barta, 69, of Flatonia, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002.

She was born May 7, 1933, in Cistern, to the late Eddie Dow and Annie Bell Baker Votaw. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors: sons, Glenn Barta of Flatonia and Kelly Mode of LaGrange; brother, Vernon Votaw of Muldoon; and six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husband, George T. Barta; parents; and one infant brother.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Flatonia Baptist Church, the Rev. Grey Julius officiating.

Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia, 361-865-3311. Memorials: Fayette County Animal Shelter
