Funeral services for Bennie C Engelke, 84, of Waco were held Oct 19 at St Louis Catholic Church with Msgr Mark Deering as celebrant. Burial followed at St Mary's Catholic Cemtery in West with Fr Melvin Dornak presiding and full military service took place.

He died Oct 15, 2000. He was born in Riesel, Tx.

He lived in the Waco area most of his life. He spent over 6 years in the Army and then worked for 35 years at William Cameron Mills. He was a member of St Louis Catholic Church, WWII veteran and member SPJST Lodge 66, Waco.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Ann Engelke Herring in 1984.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darlene Engelke of Waco; son, John Joseph Engelke & wife Diana of Waco; grandson, Justin Allen Engelke of Waco, granddaughter, Lara Michelle Herring of Waco; great-grandson, Kyle, great-granddaughter, Rena; 4 sisters, Lena Kuehn of Hallsburg, Martha Johnson & husband Raymond of Mart, Helen Doyle of Houston and Alma Uptmore & husband Virgil of Waco; 4 brothers, Ernest Engelke & wife Ruth of Oklahoma City, Ok, Fred Engelke & wife Stella of Canyon City, Louie Engelke of San Antonio, Arthur Engelke & wife, Janie of Sholson; sister-in-law, Sister Joyce Bantle of LaCrosse, Wis.
