Shiner Gazette 13 Dec 1973 Mrs. Julius J. Ermis Dies Suddenly Rites At Yoakum
According to City Patrolman Terry Masters, Mrs. Ermis, who was driving a 1967 Oldsmobile Delta 88, was traveling south on 77-A. Her car passed through the stop intersection at a slow rate of speed and traveled 162 feet where it collided with the rear of a parked car in front of V. J. Hermansen's Motors. Mrs. Ermis, nee Alice Kaluza, was born in Ammansville, September 7, 1925, daughter of John F. and Annie (Belcik) Kaluza. She attained the age of 48 years, 2 months and 27 days and had been a resident of Yoakum for 25 years. Rosary was recited at the Buffington Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6. The Rev. Michael O'Shaughnessy officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yoakum. Surviving are her husband, Julius Ermis of Yoakum; three sons, Julius Ermis of Victoria, Geary Ermis of Houston, Michael Ermis of Yoakum; two brothers, Herbert Kaluza of La Grange, Melvin Kaluza of Tomball; five sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Annie) Hollas of Victoria; Mrs. Ralph (Estelle) Poole of Lake Jackson, Mrs. Julius (Martha) Berger of Schulenburg, Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Trefny, Mrs. Edward (Gladys) Thurman of Houston; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father, June 4, 1963; her mother, March 8, 1971; three brothers, Edward Kaluza, April 30, 1947, Emil Kaluza, January 9, 1962, John Kaluza, January 24, 1971; and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Lillie) Demel, June 9, 1962. Among relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Wesselsky and
Mrs. Frank Winkler of Shiner, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Koenig of
