Gaertner, 78, of Santa Anna were held Jan. 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellinger burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Msgr. Ben Mazurkiewicz officiating. He died Jan. 15 in Houston. Born May 22, 1920 in LaGrange, he was the son of Frank and Leona (Schaefer) Gaertner. He married Elizabeth Polasek on Dec. 26, 1944. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Truchard and Francis of Mentz, Leonora Zapalac and Lenart of Ellinger and Susie Eon and Roy of Keller; sons and daughters-in-law, Gilbert F. Gaertner of Shaws Bend, Edward Gaertner and Nancy of Fayetteville and Robert Gaertner and Carrie of Cypress; a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Lorine Polasek of Plum and Lillian Gaertner of LaGrange; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; his parents, Frank and Leona Gaertner and a brother, Marion Gaertner. Henneke Funeral Home, Inc. was entrusted with final arrangements.
