KATHERINE (MATULA) GALLIA

Katherine Matula Gallia, 81, of Penelope, passed away early Monday morning, October 29, 2001 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.

Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Penelope. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 at Church of the Nativity with the Rev. Ron Scheible, OSA, as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's cememtery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gallia was born Jan. 22, 1920 to John and Katerina Matula. She was born and raised in the Ross area and moved to Penelope in 1940.

She was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School in West. She married Pete Gallia on Feb. 19, 1948 in Penelope. She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. Katherine enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting and gardening. She was a member of KJZT in Penelope and SPJST Lodge #66 in Elm Mott. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Penelope, where she also served on the Ladies Altar Society.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Toby Matula.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Pete Gallia of Penelope; sons Pete J. Gallia Jr of Temple and Theodore Payl Gallia of Midlothian; brother Rudolf Matula of Penelope; sister Bessie Rejcek of West; grandchildren, Ted Gallia, Phillip Gallia, Jackie Gallia, Brad Gallia, Brandy Gallia, Linsey Gallia, John Tyler Gallia, Shellie Crenshaw and Scott Crenshaw; great-grandchildren, Jared and Jessica Crenshaw, and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Ted Gallia, Phillip Gallia, Brad Gallia, Albert Rejcek, Harry Rejcek and Toby Joe Matula.

Memorials may be made to West Ambulance Assoc. or to the Penelope Fire Dept.
