M.J. “Joe” Gaydos, age 75, of Aquilla, passed away late Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Providence Health Center.

Funeral services were held 2 pm Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Buddy Shieldes officiating. Military Graveside rites followed at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery near Aquilla, conducted by VFW Post #4819 of West. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gaydos was born on March 8, 1927 in Poteet, the son of Edward and Christine Gaydos. He worked as a mechanic for the Flying E Ranch for over 30 years. He was a member of VFW Post #4819 of West. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, Czech music and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his sister Mildred Zogg.

He is survived by his wife, Gustie Gaydos of West; three sons, Paul Gaydos and wife Debbie of Enterprise, Alabama, Joe Gaydos and wife Elizabeth of Gen Rose, and Kevin Gaydos and wife Susan of West; five daughters, Mary Webre and husband Daniel and Kathleen Warren and husband David, all of West, Christine Trammell and husband John and Monica Cummings and husband Kim, all of Granbury, and Cheryl Shaw and husband Jerry of Dawson; two brothers, Frank Gaydos of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Bill Gaydos of Rockport; three sisters of Houston, and Dollie Cark of San Antonio; twenty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Josh Gaydos, Daniel Webre Jr., Joe Warren, John Tyra, Josh Needham, Jasper Hitschew, Chuck Clark and Joe Clark.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Parish Center. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of the arrangements.
