Alphonse "Al" Glomb of 1002 12th St., Corpus Christi, died Friday, July 26, 1985 in Corpus Christi where he was a resident for the past 55 years. He reached the age of 71 years, 10 months and 23 days. Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home was in charge of services where a rosary was recited Sunday, July 28 at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 29 at the Corpus Christi Cathedral with the Rev. Father Michael Howell officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Corpus Christi. Serving as pallbearers were Chris Kasper, Edwin Motal, Edwin Kosarek, Ray Cykala, Emil Spicak and Jerry Ermis. Al Glomb was born Sept. 3, 1913 at Shiner, Lavaca County, Texas, son of Joseph A. and Frances (Kokas) Glomb. In 1929, he moved to Corpus Christi with his parents and other members of his family. He never married. Glomb was a member of KJT Society 72, American Legion Post 364, Corpus Christi Cathedral Catholic Church and Czech Heritage Society. Surviving are four brother, Frank J. and Joseph E. Glomb, both of Houston, Ben L. and Edwin Glomb, both of Corpus Christi. He was preceded in death by his father, in October, 1938; and his mother, Feb. 9, 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Alphons Mikes, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dusek of Shiner attended the rosary for Mr. Glomb. Other relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. George Butschek and Mrs. Harry Meyer of Moulton, Oscar Glomb of Shiner, and Robert Glomb of Victoria.
