Mary Louise Goebel, 88, of Cuero, Texas died Wednesday, March 20, 2002. She was born on June 23, 1913 in DeWitt County, Texas to Ilo and Josephine Koenig Goebel. She was a dental hygienist for 44 years working for Dr. Fred Miller and Dr. John Wheeler and then retired to begin her career as a volunteer in various community and church organizations. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero, St. Michael's Catholic Daughters of America, St. Michael's Altar Society, Pilot Club of Cuero (Charter member), Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary, CAMAL House and Green DeWitt Community Club. She is survived by her nephews, Robert Goebel, and his wife, Patsy; Arlen Goebel, and his wife, Sally; Richard Goebel, and his wife, Rhonda, all of Cuero; and James Goebel and his wife, Karen, of Mission Valley. Survivors also include 11 great nieces/nephews and 8 great-great-nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Victor Louis Goebel; sister, Marguerite Goebel Johnson; and niece, Janice Goebel Harper. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 21, 2002 at Freund Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. when a Rosary will be held. Funeral mass will be held Friday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Johnson Owusu-Boateng officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, Texas under the direction of Freund Funeral Home, Cuero (361) 275-2343. Memorials may be made to the St. Michael's Catholic Church Building Fund or donor's choice.
