Banner Press April 6, 2000 Abstract of Obituary. Funeral services for Bernice Kathryn (Susen) Goebel, 77, of Sealy were held April 1 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with the Rev Joseph Limanni officiating. Burial followed in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Sealy. She died March 30 in Sealy. She was born May 12, 1922 in Nelsonville, Tx., the daughter of John C and Emelia (Pavelka) Susen. She married Wilbert Goebel on June 10, 1952. She was raised in the Mixville area and was a 1940 graduate of Sealy High School. She and her husband were the owners/operators of Goebel's Restaurant in Sealy for many years and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert; her first husband, Arnold Janda; parents; and 2 brothers, Alfred and Delmer Susen. Survivors include her daughter, Diane and her husband J R Minyard of Sealy; a son, John and wife Laura Goebel of Livingston; and 5 grandchildren, Melissa Minyard, Joshua and John Wesley Goebel and Cindy and Taylor Henson. Pallbearers were Edmund Marcinkiewicz Jr, Kerry Pavelka, Jody Mazac, Joshua Goebel, Chip Reed and Cecil Trichel. Honorary Pallbearers were John Wesley Goebel, Dr Henry Ford and Doughlas Susen. Funeral handled by Knesek Family Funeral Chapels of Sealy.
