Funeral services for James Grasshoff, 90, of Rosenberg were held Tuesday, July 9 [2002] at 10 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Rosenberg. Burial was in the Schulenburg City Cemetery. The Rev. Dale Staggemeier officiated. Grasshoff died Saturday, July 6 [2002] at the SPJST Rest Home in Needville. Born Nov. 27, 1911 in Freyburg, he was the son of Otto and Annie (Rosenauer) Grasshoff. He married Edna Bucek Oct. 15, 1935. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 67 years; two daughters, Margie Krenek and husband Dan of Rosenberg and Lois Vogelsang and husband Don of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Pat Grasshoff of Schulenburg, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Danward and Jimmy Earl Grasshoff; and two sisters, Edna Mae Hinze and Margaret Krischke.
