Mrs. Annie Grieve, an early settler of Novohrad, Lavaca County, died at the home of her son, H. B. Grieve at that place Monday night at 11:30 o'clock February 11th. Mrs. Grieve had been in feeble health for a long time and confined to her bed for several weeks. She was aged 87 years, five months and six days. Mrs. Grieve was born in Austria and came to the United States when a child of about 12 years of age with her parents, settling in Colorado County, later moving to Novohrad, Lavaca County where she resided for more than fifty years. She was married to Henry Grieve, his death occurring in 1904. Mrs. Grieve had been a member of the Catholic Church since childhood and was a good woman, a kind neighbor, and friend. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery at Praha, Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock, Rev Neubert and Rev Kostore conducting the services, a large number of relatives and friends present to pay their respects. Mrs. Grieve is survived by three grown sons, H.B. Grieve of Novohrad, Frank Grieve of Flatonia and A.J. Grieve of Los Angeles, California, a daughter Mrs. W.C Koch of Flatonia and other relatives. - Flatonia Argus
