Henry Greive passed away at the Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital in Shiner Monday morning, July 9 at the age of 71 years and 16 days.

Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday morning, July 11, 1962 at 8:45 a.m. from the Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, and continued at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Father Emil Vinklarek officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Flatonia Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were James Novak, Arnold Brunner, Tommy Marik, Charles Lev, Joe Rosenauer, and Frank Tupa Jr.

Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Mrs. Henry (Caroline) Greive; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Vlasta) Baros of Yoakum; three sons, Charlie Greive of Flatonia, Edmund Greive of Shiner and Maxie Greive of Victoria; one sister, Miss Frances Greive of Moulton; six grandchildren.

Henry Greive was preceded in death by one son, Frankie, who died at the age of nine in 1926.

He was born near Flatonia on June 23, 1891 to Frank and Mary (Rosenauer) Greive. He was married to Carolina Novak in the Praha Catholic Church. After marriage, the couple settled in the Moulton community where farming was their occupation. In 1949, they moved to Flatonia where Mr. Greive operated the West End Gulf Service Station until he retired in 1959.
