Shiner Gazette 2 Aug 1984 Flatonia - Services for Louis E. Greive, 78, of Flatonia, who died Sunday, July 29, 1984 at his home, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia. The Rev. Anthony Matula officiated. Burial followed in the Praha Catholic Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia where the body lay in state. Mr. Greive, one of 12 children, was born Dec. 14, 1905 near Praha, Lavaca County, Texas, son of Henry B. and Josephine (Pesek) Greive. He was a butcher for the City Meat Market here for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Della Brosch Greive of Flatonia; a daughter, Loretta Freytag of Pasadena; two sisters, Mrs. Charlie (Mary) Janek of Schulenburg, Mrs. Adolph (Emma) Vahalik of Rt. 2, Shiner at Midway; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, March 9, 1943; his mother, July 27, 1945; seven brothers, Willie Greive, Nov. 18, 1973; Richard J. Greive, October 8, 1969; A.S. (Tony) Greive, April 9, 1959; Emil Greive, November 2, 1959; Rudolph Henry Greive, February 16, 1963; Edward M. Greive, Apr. 10, 1975; and one infant; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Tillie) Janek, May 19, 1959, and Mrs. Joseph V. (Anna) Okruhlik, April 9, 1967.
