R. H. Greive Laid To Rest Monday, February 18th

Rudolph Henry Greive passed away suddenly at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at his Flatonia home of a sudden heart attack. He had reached the age of 68 years, 9 months, and 27 days.

He was born April 19, 1894 in Lavaca County near Praha, son of the late Henry and Josephine Greive, and was married to Miss Vlasta Vyvjala Nov. 5, 1919 in the Praha Catholic Church by Father Netardus. The couple lived in Moulton for a year prior to coming to Flatonia to make their home, where Mr. Greive was engaged as a butcher and was a partner of the late Frank Starry Sr. in the meat market business for many years; then he served others in that capacity for several more years. He was a veteran of World War I, serving 12 months overseas in Europe.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 18, at 8:45 a.m. from the Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, continuing at 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Requiem High Mass by Rev. Allen M. Black. Interment was in Praha Catholic Cemetery, where Rev. Black was assisted by Marcus A. Valenta.

Full military honors were accorded by members of Jerome Micha Post 94, American Legion.

Pallbearers were Bowd Migl, C. C. Barta, Adolph Masek, Julius Pospisil, Jr., Edgar Steinhauser, Julius Pospisil, Sr.

Those left to mourn his passing are: His widow, Mrs. R. H. (Vlasta) Greive of Flatonia; four brothers, Louis, Eddie, and Willie Greive of Flatonia, Richard Greive of Victoria; three sisters, Mrs. Joe V. (Annie) Okruhlik of Flatonia, Mrs. Adolph (Emma) Vahalik of Midway, Mrs. Mary Janek of Schulenburg; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends in this area.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emil Greive of Flatonia and Anton Greive of San Antonio, and a sister Mrs. Tillie Janak of Praha.
