This funeral took place in Houston, but has connections to the Colorado County area. We are gathered together here this morning to pay our tributes to the beloved Mrs. Hulda Grodhaus, who passed from this world into the next, last Thursday morning at 10:43 a.m., January 5, 1961, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law after having been bed-ridden for almost two years. Mrs. Hulda, nee Kohleffel, Grodhaus was born in the small community of Oak Grove, Colorado County, near Columbus, on the 22nd day of December, 1879. It was here that she lived with her family, and then her husband, until the year 1916, when she and Mr. Fred Grodhaus moved to Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Grodhaus were married on November 19, 1895. It was this past November, that they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. To this man and wife came a family: One son, Mr. A. F. Grodhaus of Baytown; one Daughter, Mrs. John Caffall of Houston. Mrs. Grodhaus is survived by her loving husband, Mrs. Fred Grodhaus, her son and daughter, six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Along with this her immediate family, she is also survived by two brothers, Theo Kohleffel of San Antonio and Oscar Kohleffel of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Thumann of La Porte and Mrs. Lydia Ammann of El Campo. Two brothers, Will and Fred, preceded her in death. Mrs. Grodhaus shared her life with us for 81 years, 16 days. She is survived by her many relatives and a host of friends who mourn the loss of a wonderful friend. Rev. Frank Henry Horak, Jr. performing the service.
