George F. Grozier, 80, a resident of St. Hedwig, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002.

He was born in Frederick, Okla., on Nov. 18, 1921, to Francis and Myrtle Taylor Grozier.

On Jan. 23, 1944, he married Lorene Jiral.

Mr. Grozier was an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service.

He was a member of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, as well as the Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post 539.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Monsignor John Wagner will officiate the services.

Interment will follow in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Cemetery in St. Hedwig.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Grozier was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Weaver, and by brothers Roy Grozier and Dick Grozier.

He is survived by his wife, Lorene Grozier of St. Hedwig; daughter Carol Melvin and husband Ron of Washington, Mo.; a brother, Bill Grozier of Arlington; granddaughter Alaina Melvin of Bremen, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

George F. Grozier, of St. Hedwig, Tx, entered into rest on August 4, 2002 at the age of 80.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, and he was honorably discharged in 1943. He was an active member of the Harlingen Elks, and a past exalted ruler and a past district deputy chairman of the Crippled Children Hospital in Otine, Tx. He was employed by the I.R.S. for over 38 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 359.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Grozier and Myrtle Taylor Grozier; sister, Betty Weaver; brothers, Roy Grozier and Dick Grozier.

He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years, Lorene F. Grozier of St. Hedwig; daughter, Carol and Ron Melvin of Washington, Mo; granddaughter, Alaina Melvin of Bremen, GA; brother, Bill Grozier of Arlington, Tx; sister-in-law, Eunice Grozier of Austin, Tx and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia Wednesday, August 7, 2002 7:00 p.m. Mass Annunciation BVM Catholic Church Thursday, August 8, 2002 10:00 a.m. Interment Annunciation BVM Catholic Cemetery St. Hedwig, Tx There will be a Visitation on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel. Father Marcin Kaminski, SDS and Msgr. John Wagner will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Darryl Jiral, Kenneth Jiral, Anthony "Skipper" Jasek, Keith Burg, Tommy Meuth, Steve Bordovsky. Honorary Pallbearers will be American Legion Post 539.

Memorial may be made to the charity of ones choice. Finch Funeral Home La Vernia.
