Shiner Gazette 22 Jul 1943 Mrs. Mary Hajek Buried at Moravia Monday Morning Mrs. Mary Hajek, age 86 years, passed away at the family residence in the Moravia section on last Friday, July 9. Mrs. Hajek was born in Czechoslovakia, Europe on May 3, 1857 and came to the United States with her parents when she was only 3 years old. The family settled in the Moravia section and she spent the remaining part of her life there. It was there that she met and later married Joe Hajek. Together they reared a number of children who have been outstanding citizens of the places where they live. Mrs. Hajek was a kind and good Christian woman who did everything that she could to make those around her cheerful and happy. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the family residence followed by a High Mass at the Moravia Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Rev. Julius Petru and Rev. Vaclav Bily officiated at the last rites. Interment was in the Moravia Catholic cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest held in that area in quite some time. There were many beautiful floral offerings which attested to the love and esteem with which she was held. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Dr. William Musil of Oklahoma City, Dr. George Bohuslav of Austin, Cpl. Victor Bohuslav of Abilene, Jerome Bucek, Cadet Edgar Eggert Jr. of Houston, Leon and Daniel Bohuslav of Hallettsville and Jess Hajek of Seymour. There are six children surviving; namely Ed. Hajek of Seymour, Willie and Alfred Hajek of Moravia, Mrs. Ed. Bucek of St. Mary's, Mrs. John Trojcak of Hallettsville and Mrs. Edgar Eggert of Robstown. Her husband and five children preceded her in death. Surviving are also two sisters, Mrs. Frank Adamcik of La Grange and Mrs. J. M. Hollub of Moravia, 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. We offer our sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends. -
