Shiner Gazette 2 Oct 1986 Lillian Hanzelka Funeral Rites Held Flatonia – Mrs. Lillian Mika Hanzelka, 80, died Monday afternoon, September 15, 1986, at Sweetbriar Nursing Home in Columbus. She was born September 23, 1905 in Lavaca County, daughter of Adolf and Frances Mika. On October 15, 1928, she was united in marriage to Joe J. Hanzelka at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha. They resided in Novohrad. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and KJZT St. Anne Society. Rosary was said Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia where the body lay in state. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha with the Rev. Joe Hamala officiating. Burial followed in the Praha Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Willie Hanzelka Jr., Alois Janak, Blase Konvicka, Michael Culver, Victor Schlottmann Jr., and a great-nephew, Mark Schroeder. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Wilma) Grohmann of Houston and Mrs. Edith Schlottmann of Schulenburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, March 7, 1982; her parents, and a
