Greg Lane Jares, 36, of West, died Monday morning, October 1, 2001, in Waco.

Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. following the Rosary with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will recieve visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Greg was born on May 16, 1965,in Hillsboro the son of Melvin and Gladys Jares. He attended early school years in Ross and graduated from West High School in 1983. He graduated from Hill Junior College with an associates business degree and was a Texas state certified welder.

He was a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association in college. He married Cindy Marie Mynarcik on Sept. 21, 1991 in West. He was working as a heavy equipment operator for the Texas Department of Transportation for the past seven years. Greg enjoyed playing dominoes and horseshoes. He was a member of Catholic Life and a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Leann Jares, who passed away on April 30, 2000.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Jares of West; two daughters, Kristen Marie Jares and Jenna Nicole Jares, of West; parents, Melvin and Gladys Jares of Elm Mott; twin brothers, Anthony Jares and wife Suzanne of West ; sister Alisa Polansky and Richard of West; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Christine Mynarcik; grandmother, Tinnie Slovak of West; godparents, Ruth and Fred Gerik; nephews, Matt Polansky, Garrett Jares, Caleb Polansky, Sarah Jares and Ashlee Mynarcik; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Active pall bearers will be Clyde Cottongame, Billy Joe Haigood, Bradley Nors, Dale Sinkule, Mike Gerik, Kieth Owens, Dwayne Uptmore and David Blake.

Note: This young man was killed in an accident between aTDOT truck and his county pickup.
