Wilson County News 30 Oct 2002 1917-2002 Benjamin F. Kaczmarek of Corpus Christi passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 8 days. He was born to Albert L. and Katie Dugi Kaczmarek on April 12, 1917. On Nov. 5, 1955, in Seguin, he married Donna J. Charleston. Mr. Kaczmarek was a veteran of World War II, serving in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He served on active duty from May 1937 to May 1960 and was retired as a disabled veteran. During his retirement years, Mr. Kaczmarek was a tireless worker for his church and for the Schoenstatt Sisters of Lamar. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2397 and the Disabled Veterans. He had lived in Corpus Christi since 1961. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Panna Maria, with Father Wojciech Reisch officiating. Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Melton, Melvin Melton, Allen Charleston, George Charleston, Timothy Kelly, and Lambert Jendrzey. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Huwe and Adolph Malek. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kaczmarek was preceded in death by brothers Clem Kaczmarek and Louis Kaczmarek, and a sister, Monica Pollok. He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Charleston Kaczmarek of Corpus Christi; sons Benjamin F. Kaczmarek Jr. and wife Rebecca Ward of Phoenixville, Pa.; daughters Katje K. Kaczmarek of Federal Way, Wash., and Rita Woolard and husband John of Goldsboro, N.C.; brothers Robert Kaczmarek of Panna Maria; sister Elenore Jendrzey of Karnes City; and four grandchildren.
