Lee Kahanek, 87, of Victoria, and formerly of Yoakum, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001.

He was born Nov. 13, 1913, in Yoakum, to the late Louis and Annie Hrncir Kahanek. He was a rancher and former owner of the Livestock Auction Barn in Wharton. He was a Catholic.

Survivors: wife, Pearl Harrell Kahanek; daughter, Dorothy Keton of Wharton; sister, Stella Fishbeck of Yoakum; brothers, Dan Kahanek of El Campo and Lawrence Kahanek of Austin; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: son, Lee Kahanek Jr.; parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum.
