Hallettsville - Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth (Bessie) Kahanek, 85, of Hallettsville were scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 1993 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Celestino Say officiating. Interment was to be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Kahanek died Jan. 12. A native of Yoakum, she was born Aug. 1, 1907 to the late James and Iona Farmer Ward.

Survivors include a son, David Kahanek, Victoria; a brother, Oscar Ward, Yoakum; and one grandchild, Kerri Kahanek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Kahanek, to whom she was married Nov. 5, 1928 in Petersville, in 1979; one daughter, Joyce Kahanek; and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
