Shiner Gazette 23 May 1985 Hallettsville - Richard A. Kainer of Hallettsville, died Monday, May 13, 1985 in a Victoria hospital at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 22 days. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Celestino Say officiated. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Kubena Funeral Home. The body lay in state at the funeral home until 9 a.m. Friday, May 17 when it was taken to the church for services. Rosaries were recited at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at Kubena Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. Friday in church. Mr. Kainer, one of ten children, was born Sept. 21, 1911 near Hallettsville, Lavaca County, Texas, son of Anton and Mary (Otto) Kainer, both natives of Czechoslovakia. He was married to Alice Gerlich and they made their home near Hallettsville. He was a retired farmer, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hallettsville, and the SPJST Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Kainer of Hallettsville; two sons, Thomas R. Kainer, Ronnie J. Kainer, both of Hallettsville; six sisters, Mrs. Frank (Cecilia) Capak of El Campo, Miss Mary Kainer of Corpus Christi; Mrs. Louis (Toni) Sitka of Victoria, Mrs. Louis (Martha) Kuhn of Hallettsville, Mrs. Raymond (Lillian) Sassin of Stafford, Miss Gussie Kainer of Houston; one brother, Emil Kainer of Victoria; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Feb. 12, 1968; his mother, Jan. 24, 1971; a brother, Alphonse Leon Kainer, Nov. 22, 1977; and a sister, Mrs. Adolph (Albina) Bollom.
