Abstract of Obituary.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna D. Kallus, 91, of Flatonia were held at the Smith Funeral Home Thursday morning with continued services at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Flatonia.

Rev. V. A. Raska of Flatonia, pastor, was the celebrant of the solemn requiem mass. Very Rev. Alois Morkovsky of Hallettsville served as deacon and Very Rev. Anthony F. Drozd of Weimar, sub-deacon. Rev. Adolph P. Janda of Ammannsville was master of ceremonies and Rt. Rev. John L. Morkovsky of San Antonio was present in the sanctuary. Father Raska delivered a sermon in English and Very Rev. Jos. A. Pustka of Hostyn delivered a Czech sermon.

Other members of the clergy participating were the Rev. Arnold Anders of Victoria, Rev. John J. Hanacek of Shiner, Rev. Joseph Rainville, temporarily of Hostyn, and Alfred Kallus, a seminarian and grandson of the deceased who assisted as master of ceremonies.

Burial was in the Hostyn Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Kallus expired at her home Tuesday afternoon. (October 4)

Born in Frenstat, Moravia, on January 8, 1863, she came to this country at the age of 12 with her parents, the late Frank and Frances Tajmer Drapala. On February 20, 1882, she was united in marriage at Hostyn to Bohdan Kallus, who preceded her in death on July 30, 1938. The couple lived at Hostyn, then Ammannsville and in 1894 moved to Rutersville where they purchased the Old Rutersville College. In 1926 they moved to Flatonia.

She was a charter member of the Fayetteville KJZT and later organized the La Grange KJZT.

Grandma Kallus was the mother of ten children, two of whom, Frank and Alois, preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Rev. Mother Rose (Adella), superior general of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, Victoria, Mrs. Charles Muras of Flatonia, and Mrs. C. M. Janda of Hostyn; five sons, Richard and Robert of Hostyn, Anton of La Grange, Philip of Lockhart, and Joe of Houston; 60 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
