Hallettsville -- Louis R. Kallus, 88, of Hallettsville, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002.

He was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Lavaca County, to the late John and Mary Eppinger Kallus. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville.

Survivors: wife, Julia Schindler Kallus; daughters, Annie Mae Henneke of Hallettsville, Agnes Gerlich and Helen Technik, both of Cypress, and Carolyn Steffek of Edna; sons, Leroy Kallus, Joseph Kallus, Edward Kallus and Michale Kallus, all of Hallettsville; sister, Mary T. Steffek of Hallettsville; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents; and brothers, Emil Kallus, Henry Kallus and Joe Kallus.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. today at Kubena Funeral Home chapel. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home chapel.Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville, the Rev.
