Fayette County Record Friday, February 21, 2003 Funeral services for Robert J. Kallus, 83, of La Grange were held Thursday, Feb. 20 [2003] at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the La Grange City Cemetery. The Rev. Harry Mazurkiewicz officiated. Kallus died Monday in an Austin Hospital. Born May 22, 1919 in West, he was the son of Joseph and Bozena (Pastusek) Kallus. He married Virginia M. Foster Dec. 8, 1942 in La Grange. He was a lifetime resident of La Grange except for the three years he resided in Freeport. He was manager for Dopslauf Holdings and formerly owned and operated a Humble Service Station, had a candy route for 15 years and also worked for Koenig Funeral Home and for United Gas Company. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Grange Sons of Hermann Lodge #8 of which he served as president at one time and Chromcik Council #2574 Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia M. Kallus of La Grange; two daughters, Karen E. Peck and husband Leroy and Marie D. Kallus, all of Houston; and two grandsons, Jason and Terence Peck of Houston. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian (Kallus) Giesber. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center, PO Box 6, La Grange or to the Fayette County Animal Shelter, 240 Svoboda Lane, La Grange, Tx 78945. Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home of La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
