Victoria Advocate September 19, 2002 Palacios - George C. Kana Sr., 82, of Palacios, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002. He was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Dubina, to the late Stephen and Frances Munzy Kana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He was owner of Kana's Upholstery and Furniture. He was a member of Palacios Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years, VFW Post 2467 and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors: daughter, Betty Boyd of Austin; sons, Edward J. Kana of Lake Jackson, Bobby Kana of Santa Fe, Tony Kana, Joe C. Kana and George C. Kana Jr., all of Palacios; sister, Edith Katzfey of San Antonio; brothers, Henry Kana and Edmund Kana, both of El Campo; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: wife Elizabeth Frances Morris Kana; daughters, Jennette Kana and Mary Ann Kana; sons, Raymond Kana, Michael Kana and Dan Kana; parents; sisters, Marie Kana, Frances Kruppa, Josie Bacak and Annie Zapalac; and brothers, Joe Kana and Steve Kana. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. Charles Dwomoh, Gary Janak and Michael Lyons officiating.
