Banner Press October 2002 Services for Alma Johanna Karasek, 98, of New Ulm, Tx were held October 2, 2002, at Knesek Brothers Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. Bernard Snock officiating. Burial followed at New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm. Mrs. Karasek died September 30 in Bellville. She was born in Colorado County, Tx, the daughter of Vincent, Sr. and Johanna Martinak Krenek. She was raised in Lone Oak and attended Rocky Hill Public School. She was united in marriage with Jim Karasek on November 22, 1932 in Columbus. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and several sisters and brothers*. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Logan and Bobbie Karasek of New Ulm; brother Awald Krenek of Columbus; granddaughter, Janice Johanna Fernandez and her husband, Joe Jr., of Austin; and great-granddaughter, Brooke Alyssa Fernandez. Pallbearers were Arthur Becker, Edgar Von Minden, Leonard Krenek, Theo Krenek, Clarence Krenek, James Krenek, and Gary Scherbig. NOTE: I was talking with a family member this evening and was told that on the obit of Alma Krenek Karasek of New Ulm who died on 9-30-2002 and which I sent to you yesterday there is a correction on the name of her husband. Please change his name to John Karasek. The newspaper showed it as Jim and the family has told me that is incorrect.
