Waco Tribune Herald Wed. Feb. 27, 2002 Robert J. Karlik, 69, of Arlington, formerly of West, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at his residence. Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at St. Mary's with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military graveside rites, conducted by VFW Post 4819 of West will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home (Kotch in West). Mr. Karlik was born April 7, 1932 in West and had lived in Arlington for a number of years. He was a graduate of Aquilla High School and was employed with General Motors Corp. in Arlington for 38 years, retiring Feb. 1, 1994. He was an Air Force veteran, serving at Carswell AFB and in Korea and Japan He was a member of VFW Post 4819 of West , St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and the Catholic Workmen Society Branch No. 77 of West. Mr. Karlik was preceded in death by his sister JoaAnn Karlik, on May 26, 1956; father, Frank J. Karlik on Dec. 6, 1986; mother Willie Mae Karlik on Feb. 6, 1994; and brother Frank J. Karlik Jr. on Oct. 12, 1995. He is survived by his brothers, William Karlik & wife Jeanette, and Wayne Karlik and wife Karen all of West; sister, Irene King & husband Jim of South Lake, Texas; sister-in-law Mary Karlik of West; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
