EDMUND J. KASKA

Edmund J. Kaska, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away after surgery on February 4, 2001.

Rosary was recited 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, in the Chapel of Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas, with the Rev. Msgr. Larry Pichard as celebrant. Burial followed at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas.

Mr. Kaska was born November 16, 1912 in West and married Lillian Vrana on November 22, 1938. Edmund was a good provider and faithful husband and a loving father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He had a servant's heart and was willing to help anyone in need. His loving and caring personality will be missed by all who were blessed to have know him. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church for 43 years, where he devoted many hours of service, including Mass usher and Boy Scout leader. He was an active member of KJT Fraternity, where he, along with his wife, worked with the youth, helped build the membership and was Financial Secretary.

Mr. Kaska was preceded in death by his daughter Marguerite; his parents Anton and Janie Kaska and four brothers Wesley, Jerome, Alfonse and Anton, Jr.

Edmund is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Vrana Kaska; one son Robert Kaska, Sr. and wife Lynn of Plano; two daughters Barbara Kaska Coleman of Denver, Colorado and Joyce Kaska Laird and her husband Jerry of Dallas; four grandchildren, Robert Kaska, Jr. and his wife Sara of Dallas, Dawne Kaska Payne and her husband Richard Bryan and son Hunter of Krum, Christy Coleman Layer and her husband Eric of Rowlett and Shannon Lee Coleman, Jr. of Overland Park, Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Chandler and Logan Layer; one sister, Christine Kaska Woods of West; two brothers Steve Kaska and his wife Katie of Abbott and Ted Kaska and his wife Marcella of West and six godchildren.

Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Dallas was is charge of arrangements.

(Note: Edmund J. Kaska, was the brother to Steve Kaska the uncle of Mary Holy by marriage.)
