ELICK JERRY KASPAR

Taylor Daily Press
Taylor, Texas
Sept. 7, 2001

Elick Kaspar, 89 Taylor, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Park Place Care Center in Georgetown.

Born in Taylor on Sept. 4, 1912, he was the sone of Frank J. and Frances (Urbanek) Kaspar. On Sept. 20, 1937, he was married to Mildred Agnes Polasek.

Mr. Kaspar was a farmer all his life. Compared to most farms today, his acreage was rather modest in size. However, he tended his land with the care and attention of a true steward of the earth, with a deep respect for the soil and nature.

Elick was a devout Christian who humbly practiced his faith throughout his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle & brother, devoted to his family and to his Lord.

When it became necessary to leave the farm because of his wife's progressive illness, he continued farming by tending his Taylor garden and yard. Passersby would view him throughout the day, always dressed in his farmer's jeans and ever- present straw hat, weeding and attending his bountiful garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Frank A. Kaspar, Ben Kaspar and Chris Kaspar.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Taylor, three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Kallus and husband Ted of Georgetown, Barbara Jean Dale and husband, Sidney Wayne of Taylor, Elaine Jane Klaus and husband, Herbert of Georgetown.

Also, granddaughters, Patsy Shirocky and husband Mitchell, L'Tisha Carpenter and husband Wayne; grandsons, Patrick Kallus, and wife Kari, James Lantzsch, Todd Lantzsch, Herbert Klaus, Jr. and wife, Lori, Ted John Kallus and wife Brenda, Kendall Wayne Klaus; sisters, Bertha Kubicek of Taylor, Louise Mokry and husband Edward of Corpus Christi, and 10 great-grandchildren. Brothers, Joe Kaspar of Mt. Calm, Mike Kaspar and wife, Delores of Corpus Christi, sisters-in-law, Frances Kaspar of Corpus Christi and Matilda Kaspar of Blessing.

Rosary was recited at 7pm Thursday, Sept. 6 at Condra Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 pm Friday, Sept. 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements by Condra Funeral Home of Taylor, Texas.
