The Rev. Edmund Deane and the Rev. F. E. Eilers, respectively pastors of the Methodist and Lutheran Churches of Shiner, officiated at the funeral services for Anton Kasper of Shiner at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 24 at the Buffington Funeral Home Chapel, Shiner. Burial was in the Shiner City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were his nephews, Gilbert, Elwood, John E. and Erwin Kasper, all of Shiner, Charlie Kasper of San Antonio and Frank Kasper of Floresville. Mr. Kasper died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 1964 in the Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for four days. He attained the age of 84 years, six months and 27 days. He was born April 25, 1880 in Klein Petersdorf, Schlesien, Austria, son of John C. and Phillipina (Richter) Kasper. In the year of 1891, he, with his parents and five brothers, came to America and settled in Texas, Lavaca County, four miles east of Shiner. It was here, on the family homestead, that he spent the rest of his lifetime. As a child, he was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He is survived by an only brother, Alois Kasper of Shiner, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two young sisters, who died in Austria and four brothers, John F. Kasper who died October 26, 1961, Ferdinand Kasper, who died August 18, 1957, Joseph Kasper, who died February 26, 1956, and Charles Kasper, who died July 1, 1944.
