Funeral services for Leon Emanuel Mach, 95, of Sealy were held Wednesday, July 3 [2002] at 2 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy with burial in the Sealy Cemetery. The Rev. Bernard Snock officiated. Mach was born and raised in the Black Jack Community near La Grange. He was the son of Albert and Annie Mach and married Leona Keyser June 26, 1948 in La Grange. He was an oilfield worker, managed a gas station in Sealy, worked for four years as a deputy sheriff in Fayette County and for 15 years with the State of Texas. Mach died Sunday, June 30 [2002] in Flatonia. Survivors include a daughter, Leona Maples of Slidell, La.; son Leon Mach Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Lillie Hattermann and husband Henry of Borden, Bessie Keyser of Columbus, special sister-in-law, Viola Keyser of Columbus; brother-in-law, Raymond Keyser and wife Nancy of Columbus; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Johnny Mach; brothers, Albert, Eugene, James, Edwin and Paul Mach; and sisters, Martha Viurg and Carolyn "Carrie" Ward.
